04.06.07 Forbidden Planet
Come and see me in "Shakespeare's Forgotten Rock and Roll Musical" written by Bob Carlton. A cross between the sci-fi 'B' movie 'Forbidden Planet' and Shakespeare's 'The Tempest', this parody is sure to make you laugh. Featuring hit songs from the 60's and 70's such as 'Good Vibrations', 'Great Balls Of Fire', 'Wipe Out' and 'The Monster Mash'. The show takes place on board a spaceship which has crash landed on a strange planet. I'll be playing Dolly Trolley, the chief stewardess. Tickets are on sale now. Box Office: 0208 325 1547
26.02.07 Oliver!
As 2006 came to a close I took part in a Christmas concert with the Bromley Players performing both as part of an ensemble and solo. It was a fun and festive way to get into the Christmas Spirit! January saw the start of rehearsals for a new musical I'm in called 'Return to the Forbidden Planet' - a sci-fi parody written in Shakespearean to the tune of 60's and 70's music. It's going to be a blast! As spring approaches and the new gig season begins, I'll be getting in a few open mic sessions. The next big thing for me will be performing in the musical 'Oliver' at the Churchill Theatre in Bromley this Easter. It's going to involve singing during complex dance numbers which will be new for me! Please see gig guide for details.
22.11.06 Grease
Well Grease was a big success! I really learned a lot about my voice as I'm a natural alto and had to sing songs in the range of a soprano. It involved some hard practising on my part to disguise the 'breaking point' in my voice. Other recent developments include:
- I have a part in the chorus of the musical 'Oliver' which will be performed in April '07 at The Churchill Theatre, Bromley.
- Jim and I are just beginning rehearsals for our band gigs in the spring of 2007.
- I have become self-employed as a private guitar tutor! Lessons anyone? ;o)
